Col Wallnuts got his street art start in 1993 after becoming entranced by the high level of emotion and movement in abstract expressionistic painting. The artist set out to develop and refine a style that warranted the same amount of attention as the wrapped canvases he saw in art galleries. His work weaves text into a variety of 3D and silhouette styles, creating diverse graphic palettes of color, ground, and movement. Combining a range of acrylics, spray paint, oils, and found objects, Col Wallnut’s works are rich in both hue and texture. The overall compositions are meant to breathe sudden life into otherwise ordinary spaces, commanding viewers’ attention and drawing them into a brighter, bolder, and more playful settings.
